You know my name

As we turn into the second week of Lent,

I offer you this rather beautiful picture of Mont Blanc in the French Alps.

Last year, Isobel, Ethel and I climbed the appropriately named Mont Joly. Its summit is measured at 8,284ft - twice the height, nearly, of the highest mountain in the British Isles (Ben Nevis), yet dwarfed by the magnificent Mont Blanc.

It took a huge amount of effort to get up and down, nonetheless.

Our Lent journey has just begun, but it is worth being encouraged to stick at it.

Here is a song by Tasha Cobb Leonard to give you a lift too.

It is entitled 'You know my name.' Have a listen. There is no mountain we cannot climb without the Lord, our Saviour and Friend beside us.

  1. God knows the name of Afroz Shah.

I didn’t know his name until a friend told me about him only this morning. He is a young Indian lawyer from Mumbai and is responsible for the world’s largest beach clean up. Versova beach had become totally overwhelmed with rubbish and tonnes of plastic washed up from the ocean. Appalled by what he saw he started cleaning it up by himself, and then gradually encouraged hundreds of volunteers to join him. He vows to continue and states he is in it “for the long haul”.

Watch this inspiring film of one man’s determination to stick with his campaign to clear a mountain of rubbish.
